Meet the Team

Doctors that Code is a site for education, information, and enthusiastic pursuit of all things AI and digital health within the NHS. Based in Scotland:

Dr Samuel McInerney

BSc (Hons) MBBS PGCert MRCP

Founder of doctors that code.
Sam is a Medical Oncology registrar at the Beatson Cancer Centre, & PhD Cancer student at the university of Edinburgh.

Sam's passion is the development of AI tools for use in Cancer medicine.

Sam's focus is on bringing AI technology into patients' and doctors' hands through.

To understand, educate, and evidence and implement AI tools that will bring much-needed improvements to cancer patient care.

Dr Hartesh Battu

BMedSci (Hons) MB ChB PGCert MRCGP

Hartesh is a GP in Glasgow, Scotland, a senior innovation fellow at the Digital Health Validation Lab, University of Glasgow, and the innovation clinical theme lead for primary care at the NHS West of Scotland Innovation Hub.

Hartesh's interests are in medical devices, regulation and health policy, particularly in relation to preventative medicine and primary care innovation and its implementation.

Dr Sean Duncan

MBBS PGCert MRCP

Sean is a Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow.

He is currently completing an MD studying the role of artificial intelligence in Lung Cancer diagnostics.

Sean is part of the Digital Health Validation Lab, a collaborative initiative focused on accelerating adoption of health technology into clinical settings through evidence generation and developer support.

Sean works clinically with Sarcoma and Lung Cancer teams in Glasgow.
